Privacy Policy

Your campaigns live on your own computer. Tavernbard has no copy of them, and no way to read them. This policy explains the small amount we do hold, why, and the choices you have.

Where your game lives

Everything you and your players create - campaigns, characters, combat state, histories, save points - is stored in a single file on the machine running the Tavernbard app, under your home folder. It is never uploaded, and we could not produce a copy of it if we were asked to.

That also means backups are yours. If the machine is lost, so is the game. The app can export a campaign to a file you keep somewhere safe.

What we hold

• Your account: your email address and the identity from the sign-in method you chose (email and password, or Google). This is what proves you bought Tavernbard.
• That you bought it: a flag on your account, nothing more. What was paid, when, and by whom is held by our payment processor, not by us.
• A connected Discord identity, if you connect one so your table can play in Discord. Since your account details are not stored on our servers, that connection is kept by the app on your machine and shown to us only when it is needed to set a channel up.
• Anything you choose to send us: a diagnostic report, a piece of feedback, or a story you share. Each of those is something you press a button to send, and a diagnostic report shows you exactly what it contains before it goes.
• Basic technical logs from our Discord relay, needed to operate and secure it. They record that messages moved, not what your game is about.

What passes through without being kept

If you play in Discord, messages travel between Discord and your machine through our relay. The relay is a router: it holds a message only for as long as it takes to deliver it, and it has no database to put one in.

What we do not hold

• No campaign data. Not a copy, not a backup, not an archive.
• No payment card data. Card numbers and payment details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never reach Tavernbard.
• No advertising or cross-site tracking profiles, and no analytics on the website that follow you anywhere else.

Why we use it

To let you sign in, to confirm you bought Tavernbard, to connect your table to Discord if you want one, to keep the relay working, and to answer you when you write to us.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of processors, each acting on our instructions: a cloud provider that hosts our sign-in, our relay, our email and this website, and a payment processor for the purchase. They process data only to deliver those functions. The current list is available on request.

Cookies

Only what is needed to keep you signed in. No advertising cookies, and nothing that builds a profile of you across sites.

Retention

We keep your account for as long as it exists. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing us; some minimal records may be kept where the law requires it. Deleting a campaign removes it from your own machine immediately, because that is the only place it was.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email contact@tavernbard.com. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Note that we cannot export or delete your campaigns for you: they are on your machine, and the app is where you do both.

International processing

The processors above may store and process data in the European Union and the United States under appropriate safeguards. Using the Service means data may be processed in those regions.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age at which they can consent to online services where they live, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date above and, for material changes, give notice through the Service.
